Spring Turkey Season ----> What Is Your Setup

Postby RonD » Wed Mar 03, 2010 12:46 pm

Spring turkey season will be open soon and I am preparing the arrows that I hope will do the job. I am using the 125 grain Magnus bullheads this year and like the concept behind their creation: A clean kill or a clean miss." I intend to carry the Magnus 140-145 heads with in case a hog presents a shot.

I'd hate to get in front of that thing! Looks like it will do the job.

Bigsmoke, I'm hoping that the turkey feels the same way about those heads and falls dead at the sight of them rather than me have to shoot. Those heads do the job quite well and the best thing about them is that it is either a clean kill or a clean miss. The heads don't work like a broadhead in taking body shots, they just bounce off the bird. They actually do not have a head that would penetrate and were not made for that purpose. The are designed to decapitate the bird instantly.

BigRic, what's the draw weight and draw length on the Rem 870? Does it use B50, D97, or TS1 as string material and how many strands does it take? :stir: I bet that monster is hard to get to the anchor point and the hand shock must be tremendous.

Yup! I have one of those leather stringed monsters and when it speaks it definitely talks turkey. Glad you brought that up, I haven't taken that thing out of the cabinet in years for cleaning. But it is too nice outside to do that today. Think I'll go hunt some stumps today with the old reliable stick and string. :ylsuper:

Hey BigRic, how do you silence that thing? It must be a bear to quieten it down.
