Heavy Doe (New Photo Series)

Postby FireCloud » Thu Jun 03, 2010 6:20 pm

Here are a few photos of a doe visiting my mineral lick a couple nights ago. The first few photos are when she passed by coming from the north. The last three photos are when she stopped by again upon returning from the south a few hours later.

This doe looks very heavy with a fawn or two. Is she carrying? What's the age of this doe?

I always enjoy seeing what all the sharp eyed members notice in my photos. This deer is Eve and is readily identified by the very dark hair that streaks from her forehead down here back. I have a number of other pics of her and she is then only deer visiting my lick that has this feature. So, the stipe down her back is her natural hair. I personally think she is one of the best looking does on my land; very healthy and with a distictive coat.

The bug on her right rear leg in the last photo is a horsefly pestering her. You can see the same horsefly on her opposite rear leg as she approaches the stump. It can't be much fun being a deer without an good way to whack the horseflys.

The yellow random dots at various locations in the photos are data loss spots from the low quality, cheap $50 Bushnell camera I use. A better camera would not do that and would not make the yellow eyes so prominent either.

I am hoping she and Daisy Mae give me three new fawns soon and I can post some pics of them in a few weeks.

Got a nice series of eleven photos of this doe once again visiting my mineral lick about 10:42 pm last night. Here are a few of them. This doe is licking here lips with her tounge in several of the photos. She paws the site up pretty well and really hits it often. I refreshed the site today with another 15 pounds or so of the mineral mix which should hold them a while.
