Getting Close

Postby quigleysharps4570 » Sun Aug 22, 2010 6:14 am

Our muzzleloading season isn't far off...September 20th.
Had planned on dusting the .54 off for opening day, but it's real hard to leave the little longrifle at home, so it'll probably go with me.
I know Mississippi doesn't have a muzzleloading season anymore but is anyone else taking one for your primitive season?

Our muzzleloading season here in East Texas doesn't start until January 3, 2011 and goes through January 16th. However muzzlerloaders can be used during the regular gun season that starts November 6, 2010 and goes through January 2, 2011. Bag limits limits vary from county to county.

Squirrel season starts October 1st. Muzzleloaders may be used during squirrel season.

I kinda like it in September Ironwood...no snow or howling north wind. ;)
Our squirrel season opened June 1st and the little longrifle usually gets out alot...hasn't this year though.

Don't have to worry to much about snow here in East Texas. Last winter was the first time I can remember that it snowed enough to stay on the ground three times! It does get pretty cold here in January. Gets down into the 20's at times.

I have a .32 Pedersoli Frontier rifle for squirrels. We do have a spring squirrel season, the month of May.

Quigs
I'm returning to Arkansas early October and taking my 54 flintlock rifle LongShanks. Robbie is going with me and is taking his Hoyt bow. We will set up my canvas tent and have a sort of primitive camp for 3 days. If we have half the luck we had last year it will be a Great season :2TU:
If we don't kill anything we will still have a great hunt and visit with Greg/ Shane and my son Gen and his family

Thanks guys. Figure I'll slip out back in the morning when I get in from work. Don't plan on getting too serious til Tuesday evening, Wednesday morning when my vacation starts. Then will have all week to hunt. ;)
