And Its On In Prim Ar.

Postby jbullard1 » Thu Oct 07, 2010 7:03 pm

Robbie and I will be leaving for the annual journey to Prim Arkansas Friday Oct 15, I can't hunt Friday afternoon unless I use a crossbow and will instead set up camp, cook the evening meal and prepare "Longshanks" for the Saturday morning opener of Muzzleloading season.
Those that don't know who Longshanks is I'll give you a short intro:
A muzzleloader in the truest of form, a Durrs Egg flintlock ignition, 54 calibre, 42" Rayle barrel, ++p Curly maple stock, based on the Southern Mountain school of build and built by me.
On this hunt last year I had a full length pass thru shot on a doe that dropped in its tracks
I shoot a load of 70 grs fffg Goex and a pillow ticking patched roundball lubed with olive oil
Wish me luck because I will need it My eyesight isnt what It once was and I only shoot 75 yds or less with this rifle

An Update
I had a great trip and enjoyed the peace and quiet
We set camp Friday about 2:00pm and was a mixture of modern and primitive

Some of the neighbors

Fully loaded Persimmon trees were everywhere as well as acorn loaded Oaks
Image

I had to hunt with a camera Friday so I found a spider trying to lasso the moon
Image

The only deer Robbie saw on the hunt Taken with a tough spine shot at 35 yards we had to track it 20 yards :2TU: meat in the freezer

The landscape I hunted

I had a couple of opportunities to drop a rock but it was a marginal shot at best; so the deer walk safe, unharmed and unwounded by this hellion from Chickasaw County in Mississippi

Autographed pictures of the last one will be available very soon, and yes ladies I am single :welcome: :D :stir: :rotflol: :rotflol: :rotflol: :rotflol:

Quigs my friend;
The time away from the real world was priceless
I'm way too lazy to try and pull a fat doe up a 75 foot bluff
I had a chance to kill but I passed on it
Making coffee at 4:00 am cooking sausage bacon and fried biscuits
NO CELL PHONE SERVICE
Sleeping in a dang white canvas tent
doing what you dang well please
Fighting with a camera trying to take a picture of 21 Turkey invading camp at noon
Eating what and when you want
Explaining to the landowners wife why I stole her 4-wheeler Friday nite and didnt tell her while I left a 2007 Z-71 parked in her driveway with the keys in it!!
Greg and Dorita are great people, she knew where the 4 wheeler was :)
Watching Gen build a raging fire and sleep with a wool blanket .... Priceless

The hunt was a 200% success
Fun Re-lactation Fun Hunting Fun Eating Good Times Robbies kill
What more could you ask for?
Fresh meat for the freezer

A Great Time was Enjoyed by all

Jerry, you got that right......it's not the kill, it's the memories made and time spent with friends and love ones.
