Turtle Killing

Postby quigleysharps4570 » Fri Aug 13, 2010 1:07 pm

A few here know I kill every turtle I get a chance at out back on the tractor when mowing or walking the edges with a blackpowder revolver. Sent another one to it's maker this morning. Just happened to be sitting here gazing out the window when I saw it come up out of the pond. Snatched up the 61 and headed out after it. Course you see who won the battle. :)

One can kill that many in a summer and the next year they are right back. One year I had 83 or 84 confirmed kills before I quit keeping track...couldn't tell it now.

This one went to an old neighbor lady. Most are left for the possums and buzzards. That's the only critter I'll leave lay. Years back I had a couple big ones come up out of the weeds after me while I was running the weed-eater...course I turned the weed-eater on them, but after that second incident it sealed the fate for all of them and their kin.

Been awhile since I walked the streets of Turtle Town. Took a tour one hot afternon here recently...shot the one and came back up to the house. Felt lucky to get this one. They seem to be pretty gun shy these days. Guess I'll have to break out a rifle and remedy that.
