Man! This is terrible. I'm getting the fever really bad but there's no use in wishing. I really liked the.50 caliber 320 grain Lee R.E.A.L. along with a hot load of FFG. That combination is really potent!

Ironwood, I've sent many to their maker with the combo you mentioned. Lifted one doe clear off her feet at 25 yards one day. Was quite a sight.

What cartridge you shooting LadyHunter?

I actually have one and used to use it. But for some reason Hunter and my boys don't want me using it anymore. They get all out of sorts if I talk about it, something to do with me hunting alone most of the time, and I remember some mutterings about age..... before I shot them "the" look..... :smash:

jb you know at age 60 i might need to think about lowering the charge a tad.

80 grains FFg would be around 1840 fps and 1400 ft lbs
90 grains FFg .......1950 fps and 1570 ft lbs
100 grains FFg.......2050 fps and 1740 ft lbs
110 grain FFg ........2135 fps and 1880 ft lbs

Might drop down to 90 grains and see what happens.

My 54 cal longrifle shoots a 70gr charge of fffg the 62 smoothy shoots 95gr fffg.
The 54 pushed a roundball front to back through a doe no bones hit and she did a backflip with an exit wound in her rear quarter
